Bachelors in Education from Concordia College, River Forest, Illinois

Philosophy:

Lutheran schools are wonderful places for students to learn about Jesus Christ and His plan of salvation while developing all the aspects of their person as they become a unique and loved creation of God.

Personal:

I am honored to be the principal at Trinity Lutheran School.  Trinity has a rich tradition of educating young people that goes back to 1883.  An education based on the Word of God has a deep and lasting impact on the lives of our students and their families.  I am blessed to be involved in the ministry of a Christian Lutheran School.  My own family has received many benefits from Lutheran schools.  My wife, Marianne, is herself a proud graduate of Trinity Lutheran School.  We met as students of Concordia University in Chicago where we both trained to become teachers.  Marianne is currently on the faculty of Lutheran High School Northwest in Rochester.  Our two adult children were students in Lutheran schools from preschool all the way through college.  Sarah works for a defense contractor in Colorado Springs.  Her husband, Adam, serves in the United States Army and Sarah is also a member of the Army National Guard.  Our son, Daniel, works in the business office of the Lutheran High School Association of Greater Detroit.  Our family is united by more than our love for Lutheran schools.  We are also gigantic fans of the Chicago White Sox.  I grew up near the Sox home town, my wife and I lived in the city of Chicago for a number of years and our kids were born there.  We are waiting for our next trip to the World Series.  My apologies to all of my Tiger fan friends!

I will enter my 35th year in Lutheran education in the fall of 2022 and my 13th as a school administrator.  I served in Lutheran schools in Chicago and Rockford, Illinois before coming to Trinity in 2015.  I taught in grade schools and high schools in the subject areas of religion, social studies, and literature.  I have a great interest in instrumental music and enjoyed being a junior high band director during much of my career.  I coached several sports and perhaps my success in the athletic world is measured in areas other than my teams’ winning percentages!  I have thoroughly enjoyed being fully involved in the various aspects of student life in the schools in which I served.  When I am not at school I like spending time watching sports, playing golf at a mediocre level, and laughing.

I would enjoy meeting and talking with you if you are a prospective family interested in Trinity Lutheran School.  We are surrounded by caring dedicated teachers at Trinity.   I pray that Trinity can become a second home for your family.  I do not know of many investments that are more powerful than that of a Christian education.  Our school would not exist if it was not for what Jesus came to earth to do for each of us.  We are blessed to be able to impact students’ lives for eternity.

May God Bless You,
