Week 8: Re-establishing

Day 3: Intercessor

By Josh Britton

READ:

Romans 8:34 – Who is to condemn? Christ Jesus is the one who died—more than that, who was raised—who is at the right hand of God, who indeed is interceding for us.

I love it when I know someone has my back, especially when I feel defenseless and broken down. It is an amazing feeling when you can count on someone who not only says they are for you, but has actually done something about it to help stand in your place or speak on your behalf in a truthful way, thus proving their allegiance to you. I pray we all have caught glimpses of and experienced this at some point in our lives from people we know, love, and respect.

Isn’t it even more mind blowing to know that this is how Jesus feels about us, acts towards us, and is constantly standing in the gap for us? He proved that He loves us by dying for us. I’d say that is a pretty good example of talking the talk AND walking the walk. If you doubt me, please – go and read the entire chapter of Romans 8 RIGHT NOW if you need more evidence. It is arguably one of the best chapters in all of scripture outlining the love that Jesus has and feels towards you.

Jesus is the one who stands in the gap for you, who intercedes for you, who has YOUR back, even when you feel like no one else does. Please know that Jesus is for you and desperately loves you and is fighting for you. May you live in confidence and strength today knowing that the God who spoke the universe into existence is the One who is speaking life-giving words of blessing over you right now.

PRAY:

God, even when we are faithless, You are faithful.  Thank you for grace, for being present, and speaking up for us.  Teach to love our neighbors this way. Amen.

LIVE:

Knowing God vouches for and vindicates you, what does that free you to do?
