Camp Restore Virtual Fundraiser

Pastor Lew Stier   -

From time to time I like to inform the congregation about some of the ministries Trinity supports through our Outreach Ministries.  I liked to do this via the Sunday message when it is my turn to preach. But due to the larger workload of my ministry and having three other very capable preachers, my time before the congregation is limited.  So I will write about instead.

You may remember hearing about a ministry in Detroit based out of Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church known as Camp Restore Detroit (CRD).  As one of my duties out in the community I serve on the Board of Directors for CRD.  CRD’s mission strives to Restore Hope and Homes in the City by sharing the love and hope we have in Jesus through our words, actions, and relationships being built with the neighbors of the community.

They have been doing that through the groups of volunteer “campers” who come from all over the country to work in the neighborhoods.  Each camper pays a fee for staying on the premises of CRD while they work in the city.  That is one of two ways CRD funds the ministry and mission.  The other way is through donations and fund raising events.

Now due to COVID-19 like everything else, things are not going as usual. CRD had to restrict “campers” from coming to work and cannot plan an in-person fund raising Gala as it has done in the past.  So it is doing what most other charitable organizations are doing in these unprecedented times—holding a virtual fundraiser “Greater Things 2020:  Hope in the City”.

This is your opportunity to hear about all the great things that God has done in 2020 and all the even Greater Things that are on the way for CRD.  With all the negativity in 2020 CRD would like to take a break and celebrate with you the good, positive things that have happened and that can take place in 2021.

So I am asking you to click on this link to find out the details of this event and for you to pray about being a sponsor or helping in any way you can.

God bless and stay healthy,

Pastor Lew
